Tik pas Joną
Lithuania Travel, citing Nida’s tourism information centre, names this outdoor fish courtyard as the key place for fresh smoked fish in Nida. It has operated for decades and is more smokehouse-with-a-place-to-eat than formal restaurant.
Neringa’s own tourism sources treat freshly smoked fish as one of the region’s defining foods. The useful version is simple: buy what looks good that day, eat it close to the water, and do not force a species checklist.

Nida is not the only place on the spit where fish matters.

Also recommended by the local tourism information in Lithuania Travel’s national gastro map. Useful if your route enters or leaves the spit through Juodkrantė.
The same tourism source lists the Preila fish seller as a pre-order option — exactly the kind of small route detail worth knowing before you arrive hungry.
Nida tourism also highlights this bakery for cakes, cookies and gingerbread. Useful when the edible souvenir should survive a car journey better than smoked eel.

What I'd actually do
Make fish one part of the day: dunes or cycle, swim or museum, smoked fish, then keep moving.
Availability is seasonal. “Which fish is best right now?” is a better question than arriving with a species ordered from Instagram.
Paper plate, bread, beer or water, lagoon view. Turning it into fine dining misses the point.
Smoked fish is one of the most logical edible souvenirs from Neringa — but ask how long it will keep and transport it properly.
Check opening patterns the same day. Seasonal coastal businesses can change hours dramatically.
Choose fish they will actually eat, then keep the meal short and give them the beach/dunes as the reward.
This is the useful inland exception for people who want the smoked-fish experience without driving to Neringa.

Vytas’ recommendation: Tomo is the stop I would send a smoked-fish obsessive to when the coast is not on the route. Fish is smoked on site, and the shop makes this a practical stop rather than a ceremonial tasting.
Best use: Kaunas base, A1 road trip or a picnic supply run. Buy what has just come out of the smoker rather than arriving with a rigid species checklist.
User-supplied local recommendation and photographs. Same-day stock and opening hours can change; check before making a special journey.

Fit it into Nida, not beside Nida
If you are driving the full spit, cycling, staying only one night or travelling with children, the best stop changes. I can help sequence it; you buy directly.
Eat it where the smokehouse is actually working, not where the sign is largest. Smoked bream and eel on the Curonian lagoon is one of the few genuinely regional foods left in the Baltics, and the difference between a good one and a tourist one is about four hours of freshness and roughly forty years of practice. Eat it standing up, with your fingers, outdoors. Cutlery is a category error.
WHERE: Nida, Juodkrantė and the lagoon villages · TEST: is the smokehouse smoking today? · VERDICT: freshness beats fame, every time

Rule: Place names are verified; same-day fish, prices and opening hours are seasonal and should be checked before setting off.

The more expensive mistake is giving the wrong place the night. The Handbook chooses the base first, then asks what the room is supposed to do.
Trip Build and €99 support both include the complete Handbook at no extra cost.
